The Equator Village Hotel is very different from all the other hotels on the Maldives. The hotel is not situated on its own island, its just a small part of an island, well.. GAN totally different.

It is the only hotel on the entire Addu Atoll. The transfer from the airport GAN to the hotel takes all of 5 minutes. In contrast to all other tourist islands, here every holiday guest can move about freely outside the hotel area. The islands are connected by bridges, making it very easy to move from one to the other without any restrictions. This way you can actively take part in the lives of the local people: unrestricted adventures.

Every hotel guest can borrow a bicycle free of charge and discover the islands by himself. Bring your inline skates, there is a wonderful 18.5 km long runway waiting for you. Enjoy a cup of tea or coffee with some small, delicious treat at a Maldivian coffee house? No problem at all! Don't be shy, the Maldivians are very friendly, speak a very good English, and are always in the mood for a chat. Would you like to discover a secret sandy beach? No problem at all!

The hotel owns 78 bungalows that are scattered in a magnificent park; they are furnished in a simple but very practical manner. You will find hot and cold running water, air conditioning and fans. In front of the bungalow you can relax on a small terrace. Most guest are from Germany, Austria, UK, and Switzerland; occasionally Russians and Japanese find their way to GAN. The hotel offers all-inclusive packages. That is to say: breakfast, lunch and dinner (buffet style) are included and between 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. small snacks with tea and coffee are offered. All drinks (excluding premium brands of course) are included in the price; this makes it easy to keep your holiday budget manageable. Every day the hotel offers free snorkeling trips to interesting places. Once a week there is night fishing as well as island hopping with lunch included. Everything free of charge! Once a week you can even "shake a leg" on the dance floor. A large pool area, tennis- and squash courts as well as snooker, table tennis, volleyball, darts, TV are included free of charge. "Deutsche Welle" (international broadcasting in German) complete the pallet of f.o.c. entertainment. About 100 m from the resort you will find a number of shops for souvenirs and other items for your daily needs. You pay a lot less here than in your typical island owned shops of the other tourist islands. There are also a bank and a post office and a Cyber station for e-mails and Internet (1 hour surfing the Internet will cost you about $US 2.50). Furthermore there is a spa and massage salon off the premises of the hotel. A short explanation: unlike the other islands Gan has many beautiful, small, "intimate" sandy beaches (please take a look at the many photos). The house reef is full of fish and we reach the best coral reefs in a few minutes by boat. The hotel offers all opportunities - but it would be a shame for "just" a beach holiday. Why the Equator Village? Number one: There are so many possibilities to be active and take part in the "real" Maldivian life.

The diving: A unique coral landscape that you will not find anywhere else on the Maldives, wonderful drop-offs, channel diving, technical-, deep-, and wreck diving (the biggest wreck on the Maldives). There is no other resort, no other diving base, no crowded diving sites. We are alone and always the first ones, and we try very hard to be the best always!
