Nitrox

Nitrox - consisting of nitrogen (N²) and oxygen (O²)- is used as term for a breathing gas mixture in diving.

Nitrox is a mixture of nitrogen and oxygen - the same gases wie find in our normal surrounding air (78,1 % nitrogen, 20,9 % oxygen, 0,1 % other gases). In diving Nitrox describes a breathing gas with an oxygen amount of more than 21 %. Commonly the amount of oxygen is between 32 % and 40 %. Therefore, Nitrox also is often called Enriched Air or Enriched Air Nitrox (EAN / EANx).

In the beginning used by Technical Diving only Nitrox is established as breathing gas in recreational diving since some years, too.

By diving with Nitrox less nitrogen is absorbed in the human body by the reduced partial pressure of nitrogen. Therefore, the diver is exposed to less narcotic effects caused by nitrogen. You gain more non-decompression time and the risk for decompression sickness becomes less - as long as you dive using dive tables or dive computers for normal air. In recreational diving Nitrox reduces the personal risk for dives with extended dive time and the risk in the case of higher sensitivity for decompression sickness.

Rebreather training is run under the guidelines of the associations ANDI , IART and NRC . For mixed gas diving within the technical diving we offer the mixed gases Trimix , Heliox and Heliair . The regular dive training is run under the guidelines of the associations PADI and NAUI .
